The 10 Bodies of Kundalini Yoga

10+bodies+2018.jpg

"If you understand that you are Ten Bodies, and you are aware of those Ten Bodies, and you keep them in balance, the whole Universe will be in balance with you." ~ Yogi Bhajan

The Ten Bodies

“In this material world it’s important to consolidate all of your bodies into the exact same moment. In this way, your presence becomes prosperous . . . you’re mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually invested in this moment of time. This prosperity is known as presence, and without presence, your energy is lost in random thoughts, feelings, memories and anticipations of the past and future . . . you're not fully occupying the present moment . . . the only moment that actually exists.” ~ Guru Singh

Join Jay Suttonbrown as we explore each of the 10 Bodies of Kundalini Yoga with practice, meditation and study. The 10 Bodies are holistic and consistent. They have different functions and are equally important. Nivair Singh Khalsa notes, “When you are operating successfully through these bodies, there is a paradigm of success. It is a model of human excellence.”

Come and explore your challenges and strengths through the 10 Bodies of Kundalini Yoga, and the Numerology of your birthday.

We will Explore:

  • Experience of One Body each week with appropriate Kriya sets, Mantra and Meditation.

  • The philosophy and actuality of each Body.

  • How to balance the 10 Bodies for harmonious integration.

  • Be prepared for practice and discussion.

The Eight Limbs of Yoga- Experiencing the Self- Haida Gwaii

front-studio_1_orig.jpg

Experiencing the Self

with Jay Suttonbrown, ERYT-500, YACEAP

Join us as we explore various elements of yoga practice and technology, diving into what it means to engage sustainable practices that lead to deep experiences of Self. The Eight Limbs of Yoga offers 50 hours of deep inquiry into the practices of the yamas and niyamas; experience kriya, mantra, pranayama, and meditation; and study of the ancient sutras and Kundalini philosophy. We will investigate the emotions as important energy forces that guide healing and transformation. The ultimate goal of yogic practice is generally often labeled unity, samadhi, shunia, and others. The Eight Limbs of Yoga are the road map to this inner space. In simplest phrasing our practice is “a return home within the self.” How do we foster this return? Which practices serve us best? What gets in our way of this unified experience?

Utilizing powerful yogic technology uncover your deep connection to YOURSELF, embracing the self just as you are, and learn how to navigate your daily life with these profound tools. This is open to all interested Yogis. We'll explore within the wheel of the Eight Limbs, with moments of inspiration, deep meditation, challenge and integration.

We will Explore:

  • The excavation of your personal practice to uncover your inner connection to Self. Our work will remove the layers of conditioned reactions so you can delight in BEING YOU.

  • Deepening our understanding of the lineage and application of the Eightfold Path through the lens of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation, and Hatha yoga practices.

  • Learn how different mudras, mantras, kriyas and meditations produce different functional effects.

  • Learn to work with the vibrational effects of the sacred sound current.

  • Explore and practice the truly integrated practice of the Eight Limbs Yoga with:

    • Kundalini Kriya: Deepen the experience with Tapas and Surrender

    • Meditation: The Journey from Pratyhar to Samadhi

    • Mantra and Bhakti: Open your heart and your voice in a practice of surrender, empowerment, and the Self.

    • Asana & Alignment: Come to the physical practice as a means to awakening, liberation, and compassion.

    • Pranayama: Connect with breath and the subtle body to nourish your life force

  • Ethics: Get real with the yamas and niyamas, which are tools for an integrated life

  • Find your voice: Work with others to apply what you are learning to your practice, teaching, sharing and life.

This course is open to both yoga practitioners and Yoga Teachers. Those Teachers who complete the training will be eligible for 50 hours of Yoga Alliance Credit.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do I get there? If you are travelling to Haida Gwaii, you want to take the flight to Sandpit, Haida Gwaii. There is one flight per day. This means you will need to fly up on Wednesday November 6th and plan a return on Tuesday the 12th. The Eagle Transit shuttle will pick you up directly at the airport, and bring you to Charlotte to your choice of residence. You WILL need a reservation. Call call them directly to book your spot: Eagle Transit Haida Gwaii: Phone(250) 559-4461

  2. Do I need a car? You do not need a car. The town of Charlotte can be walked with ease. You WILL need a good pair of walking boots, waterproof coat, and perhaps a rain cover for a back-pack (or good umbrella). There is space to store your supplies at the yoga studio. However, if you would like a car, you can rent one.

  3. Where should I stay? There are many good places to stay. I recommend Spruce Point Lodge as it is an easy walk to the Sun Yoga Studio. However you can check out a variety of Bed and Breakfasts as well. Be clear that they are within walking distance of the Sun Studio if you are not renting a car. The Spruce Point Lodge rooms come with a fully stocked kitchenette (pots/pans/dishes) so you can make your own food. Many rooms have two beds. If you are interested in sharing a room, email us at info@manipurayogacollege.com, and we will put you in contact with other participants seeking to room-share. You can contact Nancy Hett at Spruce Point Lodge directly by email: moresbymntstudio@yahoo.ca to reserve a room.

  4. What about food? There is a local grocery store and Isabelle Creek Natural Foods within walking distance for shopping. Again, a sturdy back-pack will serve you on Haida Gwaii. There are a few restaurants as well, if you do not want to cook. You will want to have provisions to pack a lunch, as our breaks will not be long enough to walk to and from a cafe. (Restaurant hours can fluctuation in November based on weather, so shopping is recommended).

  5. I live in Haida Gwaii and am interested in applying for a grant from the Gwaii Trust Society, can you help? Of course. You will need to contact The Gwaii Trust Society directly at 250-559-8883 or you can check out their website here: https://gwaiitrust.com/grants

  6. Can you provide us with documentation for the grant? We can provide documentation as needed. Please let us know what is required and we will email to you directly.

  7. More questions? email us at info@manipurayogacollege.com and we will be happy to help!

Doing Sadhana in a group develops group consciousness.

"At the beginning of sadhana everyone has a different vibration. Some have traces of dreams; others are already filled with concerns for the day; and still others come with different expectations about sadhana. The more people there are, the more these individual differences balance out and create a harmony. The happiness of one person balances the sadness of another. Then the entire group finds its energy directed by the activity of the sadhana itself. If, in morning sadhana, one cannot curtail the barriers and get to Oneness, I don’t think there is any other time it can happen. All for one, and one for all. That is the principle." ~The Teachings of Yogi Bhajan

Enjoy the transformative work of Pranayama, a gentle Kriya, and 62 Minutes of Mantra Meditation. Experience the powerful energy of balance through Community Sadhana practice..

  • A blanket and any additional items of comfort for seated meditation is recommended.

Power of Naad and the Sacred Sound Current

5 Hours Continuing Education Credits (Yoga Alliance)

Sunday February 17th

1-5pm

Lifestyles Yoga Studio, Nanaimo

The Universe is made up of vibration and sound. They are potent tools in maintaining and creating our sense of well-being, and can be used to heal the body, mind, and spirit.

"Naad means “the essence of all sound,” the vibrational harmony of the Infinite. Naad Yoga is based on the experience of how sound vibrations affect the body, mind, and spirit...It’s as if mantra and breath are the conductors of a symphony and you are the composer. You can change the notes of the symphony, to create chords of happiness, sadness, vitality, or calmness. This capacity is inherent in our design and requires no special drug or belief. This process of creation exists because every one of our molecules is in communication with every cell and thought. The power of mantra uses sound, breath, and rhythm to command our mind, brain, emotions, body, and actions." ~ Excerpts from The Aquarian Teacher Level 1 Training Manual

We will Explore:

  1. Experience the sacred sound current through mantra, breath and rhythm.

  2. Learn Meditations to support your nervous system, and "change the channel" of self-defeating patterns.

  3. Learn the philosophy of naad, laya and shuniya.

The Grounding Power of the Root - Releasing Fears with Kundalini Yoga

untitled-0797-XL.jpg

With Jay Suttonbrown, E-RYT 500

Being completely present with yourself can be hard to do. We can go through great lengths to be numb ourselves from this feeling on a daily basis through our choices, and most especially our thoughts. Being in this world is having both feet rooted in the ground while having the human experience. Being grounded also makes you committed to your path and helps put into action that which you see from the higher centers.

When we are grounded we are more able to do the big emotional work of acceptance.”  Gurmukh

“The barriers to change lay deep in the subconscious and are not easy to access with your rational, thinking mind. These blocks can be released through the chakra balancing practices of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation.” Gloria Latham

“Acceptance is the opposite of judgement.” Jay Suttonbrown

Join Jay Suttonbrown, E-RYT 500 for a powerful workshop designed to awaken your power and potential with Kundalini Yoga. Hosted by Jan Norman Yoga, come and discover how to source the gifts of the first chakra, and surrender the shadow aspects as we clear blocks related to fear, worthiness and lack. This workshop is sure to leave you with clarity, insight, and will empower your possibilities.
